Chattanooga Scenic Riverpark Bicycle Ride

Optional Post Event Lunch & Beverage in Chattanooga

The Tennessee River Parkway located in Chattanooga is a 16 mile out and back ride along the Tennessee River. Starting at the Thrasher Bridge/Hwy153, we'll ride 8 miles to downtown Chattanooga and cross over the Walnut Street Bridge to the eclectic North Shore district. With so much fun at hand, and scenic view,  this ride will be a blend of exercise and recreation. We will have a brief break and explore the North Shore area before returning 8 miles back to the starting point. For our optional post event, we will head to downtown Chattanooga to a local pub for lunch and beverage(s).  What better way to enjoy a Saturday!

The Riverpark follows the Tennessee River to downtown Chattanooga. It is a paved trail (like the Silver Comet, Big Creek Greenway, and Arabia Mountain) 8 mile out and back for a total of 16 miles. There are some side trails so the total distance could be a mile or two longer. About half of the trail runs directly on the Tennessee River and will be a very scenic ride. We will start with a dramatic view at the base of the Chickamauga Dam as we unload our bikes. At the midpoint, we will cross the river on the Walnut Street Bridge (one of the largest pedestrian only bridges in the world) and explore the hip North Shore of Chattanooga (refreshments, more river views, and an optional carousel ride).  Click on the link above for the riverpark website, photos, and maps.

NOTE: The Riverpark is very popular and we'll likely be sharing the trail with other riders, walkers, joggers, and baby strollers. You are responsible for your bike maintenance and/or repairs on the trail. Other AOCer's will be willing to provide what help they can. But ultimately individual riders are responsible for any repairs. Make sure you complete a pre-ride maintenance check a day or two prior to the event.

Also, a bike Helmet is required. No helmet, no ride. See the NHTSA site for info on bike helmets - https://www.nhtsa.gov/road- safety/bicyclists.
