Itinerary:

Forsyth Big Creek Greenway is a relatively flat and wide multipurpose trail with no more than about 175 feet of elevation gain/loss along the entire trail.  I’m encouraging folks, especially those new to biking  or have been inactive for a while to sign up for this event. However, riders of all skill levels are welcomed to join in. The ride will be enjoyable because the most of the trail path is scenic and adequately shaded and the trail surface alternates between concrete and boardwalk (very forgiving on the body, but can be slippery when wet).

We’ll bike 6.8 miles each way, for a total distance of 13.6 miles at an easy to moderate pace of about 10-12 miles an hour.

 See trail map: http://www.bigcreekgreenway.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Forsyth-Big-Creek-Greenway-Map-Large.jpg

We will meet at the southern trailhead of McFarland Parkway (east bound off GA 400). Look for a brown sign post that reads “Big Creek Trail” on the right.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From the GA-400/I-285 Interchange on Atlanta's North side:

1. Take GA-400 North about 17miles and get off at Exit 12A to McFarland Parkway

2. Bear right (east bound) onto McFarlant Pkwy and go a bit less than 1 mile. The graveled parking lot will be on the right side of the road.

NOTE: Parking can be challenging at this location sometimes.  So, plan to arrive a bit early in order to secure a parking spot. It will also be nice if you're able to share a ride, if you happen to know a participant in the event.

Notes:

PLEASE  NOTE:

You are responsible for your bike maintenance and/or repair on the trail. Other AOC members will be willing to provide reasonable/necessary assistance, but be aware that you’re ultimately responsible for your repairs and the group will not delay or alter the trip for repairs that will take excessive amount of time. Please make sure you complete a pre-ride maintenance check a day or two before the event.
