| Itinerary: |
The AOC stayed at Enota for the first time back in August during the Perseids meteor shower. I have to say, it was the nicest campsite I've ever stayed at in Georgia and have been wanting to return ever since.
However, I recently learned that if it's below 40 at night, I don't want to camp. Great news!!! Enota has a private home we can rent right on site! All the benefits of camping but with the luxury and privacy of our own home in the woods. We'll be close to some great hiking, right by the stream, and can have a campfire in our yard!
So why am I calling it "Cabin Camping?" Well, one, because it's going to be pretty cheap to stay there. Inside. (With, you know. Heat. And bathrooms. And a kitchen.) Two, because some of you are going to have to bring blowup mattresses/sleeping pads and sleeping bags. I know there are 4 bedrooms and a huge room downstairs that can sleep additional people. On events like this, the trip leader gets their pick of a bed and will share the room with another attendee or two. (Sorry, no snorers!) After that, it's usually first come, first serve (pending practability; for example a couple would NOT get a large room that COULD sleep 6).
Our private house includes a spacious yard (so we can get at least a little loud without anyone hearing us!), kitchen, 3 bathrooms and a firepit. It's located between the primitive camping sites and Family/RV area. We should be far enough away from everyone that we won't hear each other. However, we'll be close enough that we can walk to the public bathouse, trout pond, and hiking trails. Alcohol is permitted but bad behavior is NOT. Please be responsible.
My intention is to have a laid back weekend hiking and relaxing with friends. I'm hoping we'll all have time to explore the beautiful and unique campground at Enota. It's a really special place, and there are plenty of trails that lead from the campground to some of North GA's finest hiking. For those up for a tougher challenge, Brasstown Bald is RIGHT THERE, literally just minutes away. It's my intent for us to hike up to the top for sunset on Saturday night.
As far as food goes, Friday night, you're on your own. We anticipate people will arrive at different times, and it will be a laid back evening. Bring a snack to share!
Saturday morning, we'll walk over to the restaurant on site where they will whip up a buffet just for our group. ***Please bring a few dollars as a tip; this campground functions as a non-profit.*** After breakfast, we'll hit the trails!
Saturday night, I'm sure we'll have worked up an appetite after a day of hiking! Dinner will probably spaghetti with two types of sauces; one meat, one veggie. Big salad, some bread.
Sunday we'll have a lazy and light breakfast and then either wander around Enota or hit Brasstown bald. We can have lunch on the trail, then head back to Atlanta.

| Carpool Cost: | |
Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $74.00 (calculated at total miles (200) * $0.370, effective Wednesday, September 08, 2010). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.370 per mile as stated by the IRS & Cars.com. This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver). For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $18.50 Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

The money must be in the AOC's possession by that date. No exceptions. - When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where AOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refunds of money if you or your guest(s) cancel. - We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in AOC events. - Details of this event are subject to undergo a change at any point in time, with or without warning. - Questions about equipment or rentals?
