| Itinerary: |
Come along with us to explore the Whitewater Falls area! Whitewater Falls is really two waterfalls: the Upper and the Lower Falls, and together they are the highest set of falls in the East. Along the way, we should see a spectacular array of wildflowers (at peak bloom), including a rare trillium species.
From the Whitewater Falls parking area, it is a short walk to the tourist overlooks for the Upper Whitewater Falls. We can either have lunch there or keep going and find another spot. We will then continue down the long winding Foothills Trail into the Whitewater Gorge. We will take a bridge across the Whitewater River and continue to Lower Whitewater Falls. After a break here, we will return the way we came.
This is a moderate to strenuous 7 mile hike. We will keep a moderate pace, but will allow time to take in the scenery.

Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $91.02 (calculated at total miles (246) * $0.370, effective Friday, September 10, 2010). This is based on the current gas, maintenance, and other costs of $0.370 per mile as stated by the IRS & Cars.com. This should be divided by the total number of people in the vehicle (incl driver). For example: With 4 people in the vehicle, the expense per person on this trip would be $22.76 Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.
