Itinerary:

 

This hike has nice views & there should be lots of wildflowers. There is not a lot of elevation gain, but it is concentrated in 3 spots.

We will start at Cravens  House & walk along the Bluff Trail & then descend to the Upper Truck Trail for a walk in the woods. We will ascend to the Bluffs Trail & over to the multi-level Jackson Spring. 

Back on the Bluff Trail it's a nice flat walk along the edge of the mountain with the valley on one side & rock faces on the other. There are usually rock climbers you can watch along here. There is a short but steep side trail up to Sunset Rock where we will stop to enjoy the view.

Next we climb back down to the Bluff Trail and then up to the top of the mountain at Point Park, which offers great views of the valley below, including The Tennessee River & Moccassin Bend.

The exact order we do the stops will depend on if it is misty in the morning. If it's clear we may go to Point Park first.

We will probably stop in Chattanooga on the way back for dinner. If you do not wish to join us make sure you carpool with someone returning directly.

Sturdy hiking boots - preferably waterproof - Lookout Mtn. has a lot of springs & rocks.

Snacks for the trail

From Chastain go I-75 North for 85 miles

Take I-24 West for 6 miles

Exit  #175 - Browns Ferry. Turn Left onto Browns Ferry

After .6 miles Turn Left onto Cummings Hwy.

Travel .8 miles & turn Right onto 318 (See sign for Craven's House)

Drive 1 mile & turn Right onto 148 (Scenic Hwy)

Drive .7 miles

Turn Right onto Cravens Terrace

After .8 miles the entrance to  Cravens House will be on your right.
