Itinerary:

So, here we go again: Come join me hiking most of he trails at the Jones Bridge Unit of the Chattahoochee NRA on Thursday afternoon. While not as well-known as some of the other branches of the Chattahoochee NRA, Jones Bridge has an excellent system of trails which can be combined to many miles of hiking.  Much of our hike will be along the river, but a good bit of it will be in the nearby woods. There will be a few hills you will need to climb but nothing with over a 150 foot elevation gain. 

Some interesting pieces of information: In the old days there was "Jones Ferry" until Jones Bridge was build.  Jones Bridge spanned the Chattahoochee River from 1904-1922 falling into disrepair in the 1930s. Half of the bridge was "stolen" in 1940, neighbors didn't know the workers cutting the bridge were not authorized to do so until it was too late.

Note: All hikes are rain or shine hikes, i.e. dress appropriately.

From GA 400, take exit 7a, and head East 4.1 miles through the intersection of Holcomb Bridge and Nesbitt Ferry Road to the junction of Barnwell Road. Turn left on Barnwell Rd, and travel approx. 2 miles to Jones Bridge Branch which will be on the right. Turn in and go a little over 1/2, you will see a parking lot at your right SKIP that one and continue...the road will end into another parking lot. This is where we will meet.


Notes:

Remember to bring three dollar parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual parking pass.
