Itinerary: | |||||||||||||||
Come join me for a fun night hike at Pernoshal & Brook Run Parks in Dunwoody. We will be hiking on a concrete trail with some elevation at a MODERATE of 2.6 to 3.0 mph pace depending on the heat index . With the heat that we have been having, I don't want anyone falling out on me due to heat exhaustion. This is NOT a beginner's hike. PLEASE arrive by 6:50 pm for check-in, use of restroom facilities, socializing & introductions. Out of respect for the majority of people who arrive on time, we will leave PROMPTLY at 7:00 pm. Bring water. PLEASE REMOVE ALL VALUABLES FROM THE INSIDE OF YOUR CAR so as not to attract any vandalism. The trail goes from Pernoshal Park over to Brook Run where we will be doing a figure 8 hike. Pernoshal Park opened 4/23/16. It is a 5-acre park that includes a pavilion, bathrooms, basketball courts, a pickle-ball court, a large open field area for play and a connecter trail which crosses Nancy Creek to Brook Run Park. Pickle-ball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, outside Seattle, WA. The goal of Pickle-ball then and now was to create a game that is fun for every member of the family. It is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. It is played with a paddle and a plastic ball with holes and as doubles or singles. Brook Run Park opened in approximately 2011. It is a 102-acre park and is the largest park in Dunwoody. The park features include a large children’s playground, 2-mile trail loop, skate park, dog park, community garden, and event facility. Come shine your light on a fun trail through the parks & woods. | |||||||||||||||
