Itinerary:

From Woody Gap to Neels Gap... a beautiful little hike along the AT over Blood mountain... and just when we get there, we realize that we forgot to organize one of Wynn and Lisa's infamous key swaps, so no alternative but to walk all the way back to Woody Gap! 

We will be moving at a steady pace to cover the 11-mile trail (22 miles roundtrip) in about 7 hours. Total elevation gain is somewhere in the 4000 ft range. 

This is NOT a beginners hike, so please do not sign up unless you are in excellent physical condition. If you haven't done a D6 hike with me before, this will not be for you. I reserve the right to remove folks from the sign up list that have not hiked with me before. 


Required Items to Bring:

Water, snacks, hiking poles, a light rain jacket (just in case), spare clothes and carpool $$ for the ride back to ATL.

North on GA 400 from the park and ride. When GA 400 ends at the Chevron station make a left onto US-19/GA60 until you reach Dahlonega. From Dahlonega, take GA 60 north for 15 miles until you reach the parking lot on the top of the mountain at Woody Gap.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $48.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
