Friday morning at East Palisades (Whitewater Creek Entrance)

IMPORTANT!!!  This is NOT the Indian Trail lot!!  It's the Whitewater Creek lot that starts near the dog beach!  READ the DIRECTIONS!

East Palisades is one of the most beautiful of all the Chattahoochee Parks and one that many want to see, but don't want to do at a fast pace.  So we'll slow this one down to a very moderate pace and just enjoy the views of the river and the trails.  We won't be doing the strenuous hills, though there will be some elevation change along the way.  Our goal will be to hike to the celebrated bamboo forest, truly a sight to see.

If you've done a little hiking and can manage 4 miles with a few hills, please join us.  This will NOT be a fast hike, so go to the gym if you need a strenuous workout.  though we will encounter several hills that will be challenging for unseasoned hikers.  (No BAH today!)

Though the weather will be dry all week, water releases into the Chattahoochee could make for some muddy trails.  Waterproof shoes are advised.

There is a $5 parking fee unless you have an annual pass. There are no restrooms available.

From I -285 East
- Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road. 
- Right on Northside Drive.
- Go through the Powers Ferry intersection for 1.6 miles to Harris Trail (Caution light).
- Right on Harris Trail and .9 mile to Whitewater Creek Road.
- Right and entrance will be on the right (.1 mile).

From I-285 West
- Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
- Straight to second traffic light.
- Left on Northside Drive, through the Powers Ferry Road intersection for 1.6 miles to Harris Trail (caution light).
- Right on Harris Trail and .9 miles to Whitewater Creek Road.
- Right and travel.1 mile to the entrance on the right.

From I-75 North
- Take exit 256, Mt. Paran Road.
- Right on Mt. Paran Road to first traffic light (Harris Trail)
- Left on Harris Trail to Whitewater Creek Road
- Right about .4 miles to the unit which is on the left.

From U.S. 41 (Cobb Highway South)
- Travel to Mt. Paran Road
- Right on Mt. Paran Road, go to the first traffic light (Harris Trail) and turn left.
- Go about .3 miles turn left onto Whitewater Creek Road.
- Go .4 miles to the unit, which is on the left.

From U.S. 41 (Cobb Highway North)
- Travel to Mt. Paran Road
- Turn left on Mt. Paran Road, go to the first traffic light (Harris Trail) and turn left.
- Go about .3 miles turn left onto Whitewater Creek Road.
- Go .4 miles to the unit, which is on the left.

Bring $5 cash for parking unless you have an annual pass
