Amicalola Falls to the Len Foote

Enjoy a closeup of spectacular Amicalola Falls, then climb to the Len Foote Hike Inn!  We'll meet at the relfection pool at the bottom of the falls, savor the cool rush of the falls as we embrace the 604 stair challenge, then take the Approach Trail to the Hike Inn.  This hike is a challenging route with roughly 3000 feet elevation gain - not for the beginner.  We will not be on a speed hike, but you should be confident that you can maintain a steady pace up steep ascents with minimal breaks in order to keep up with the group.

A moderate pace will get us to the Hike Inn before noon for a lunch break.  Usually the Hike Inn allows hikers to use their restrooms, but be prepared if that is not the case. Sometimes drinks and snacks are available in the dining room - a cash tip is customary. 

After our break, we'll take the scenic Len Foote Hike Inn trail and descend to the parking lot.

Remember cash for carpool, and $5.00 cash for parking, or bring your State Parks annual pass.  

DIRECTIONS from GA-400/ I-285 INTERCHANGE in N ATLANTA (Sandy Springs) to AMICALOLA FALLS STATE PARK  (about 60 miles or 90 minutes):

1.  From the GA- 400/ I-285 interchange go North on GA-400/US-19 N about 42 miles to the traffic light at GA-136 (a.k.a. Harmony Church Rd).
2.  Turn  Left off GA-400 onto GA-136 and follow it westward about 12 miles.
3.  Bear Right onto GA- 342  (Bailey Waters Rd) and go about 3.6 miles.
4.   Turn Left onto GA-52 East and go about  3.9 miles.
5.  Turn Right  onto Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, at the park entrance.
6.  Pay for parking and take a restroom break at the Visitor Center, then park at the reflection pool at the bottom of the falls.
