Itinerary:

Please join me for a beautiful hike on the Helen to Unicoi State Park trail.  This is a perfect hike for those that want to get out hiking more but not ready for high elevation.  We will be hiking approx 5.5 miles at a moderate pace.  This is an out and back trail that is well maintained and wide enough to walk side by side with an elevation gain of approx 600 ft.   While this trail is mostly though the woods along a creek there are 2 sections that pass through open clearings.  We will hike to Unicoi State Park lodge where we will take a break and then head back the way we came.  There are bathrooms at the inn. 

We are meeting in the parking lot of Unicoi Hill Park at the trailhead.  The lot is off White St at N. Main Street.  If you are coming north on N Main Street turn right on White St and you will see the parking lot up on the right.  Parking is free in this lot but the lot is small.  If the lot is full there is plenty of street/public parking along Main Street.  Be prepared to possibly have to pay to park. 

We are starting promptly at 10:00 a.m.  Please allow yourself enough time to find a parking spot and walk to the meeting location.   

This is a moderate pace hike.  Not a fast fitness hike and not leisurely. Please be prepared to stay with the group.   

Optional lunch after the hike.  There are many places to eat along Main Street.  Totally optional and not part of the AOC event.
