Itinerary:

Join me for a 5-mile hike along the Cheatham Hill Trail loop in the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield.

This will be a mostly silent hike (the first 1,5 hour), so we can enjoy nature and see more deear without distrupting them. Silent hikes allow us to walk with mindfulness and better connect with nature.

The trail, mostly wide and flat, features beautiful grassy meadows, creek crossings (on bridges Emoji), Civil War battlefields and milestones such as the Illinois Monument and the grave of the Unknown Soldier.

There's also abundant deer though not always visible. We will be able to see some deer at this early time of day.

Our pace will be steady with an average of 2.8+ mph

Let's meet 10 minutes before the official start of the hike at the Cheatham Hill Trail Parking Lot. From Whitlock Avenue/Dallas Highway, turn on John Ward Rd, get to the traffic circle and take the second exit. The parking lot is on the right, about ¼ mile past the circle.

If you want to hear about the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, you can go to the KM’s Visitor center's auditorium, or you can access the documentary from your laptop or your phone! Click on the link to the documentary narrated by Peter Coyote.
