Itinerary:
Let’s explore Lakhapani Preserve in Milton, GA. This green space is surrounded by privately owned farmland. We’re likely to see some cattle. You’ll sense you are in rural Georgia. We’ll follow the 1.5 mile loop in one direction and then walk the other direction. I’ve added an out and back trail to our walk to get a total of 4 miles. We’ll be walking among trees, creeks, and a lake. The terrain is mixed - forest floor, rocks and roots. The trail will be wide in some areas and narrower elsewhere. There is some elevation on this trail but it will be in short distances. Count on at least one creek crossing. This is a hike for beginners; however, I would personally rate this hike as a harder D1. The pace will be leisurely. Challenging sections will be taken slowly and carefully.
