Itinerary:

We will start our hike the Old John Ward Road and connect with the Cease Fire Trail to loop back to the parking lot, about 2 miles. Then we will proceed south on the West Kolb Farm Trail and complete the 5 mile loop on the East Kolb Farm Trail.  On our way, we will visit the Grave of the Unknown Soldier and the Illinois Monument.

There is a large population of deer in this section of the park.  They are very active this time of year, particularly in the early morning and late afternoon hours.  If we are quiet and watchful we are likely to see them on the trail and at the edges of the forest.

The average pace of this hike will be  2.8 - 3.0 mph.  This pace should not be too challenging as there is very little elevation on these trails.
