Itinerary:
The Cochran Shoals area is one of the largest and most popular in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. And as such, to avoid a lot of people, we'll veer off the main trail after about 1/4 mile and remain on the back trails until we circle back to it in about 2 1/2 miles. I think total mileage will be about 4 1/2 miles. We'll keep a vigorous pace to beat the darkness. The terrain is up and down.

The parking lot can fill up; there is over flow parking on the east side of the river.

Please be early at 5:30 to sign the waivers, leave yourself time to pay the $3 parking fee and if necessary to park on the other side of the river and walk back over to the main entrance to the trail, and group introductions.

If you bring a dog, it much be well behaved and on lease at all times.

There are bathrooms and a drinking fountain at the main parking lot.

We'll start the hike promptly at 5:45pm.

From eastbound Interstate 285

* Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
* Go to second traffic light and go left onto New Northside Drive.
* Use "through" lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
* Unit will be .8 miles on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee.

From westbound Interstate 285

* Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
* Right on New Northside Drive.
* Use "through" lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
* Unit will be .8 miles on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee.
