This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Come join us for a paddle down the Hooch.  We'll meet by the boat ramp at the end of Morgan Falls Rd, by the Sandy Springs dog park (just below the dam). We'll drop our boats and shuttle cars to the take out at Powers Island CRNRA.  Please be on time, as this shuttle will be 45 minutes round trip, and we want to be on the water as close to 9 a.m. as possible.

Two miles into our paddle we will pass the Johnson Unit CRNRA, on the right; this is another popular put-in location and also offers some nice hiking trails. After another 2.5 miles, we will reach the Cochran Shoals Unit CRNRA, another popular hiking and biking area.  An additional 1.5 miles later, we will arrive at the Powers Island CRNRA, on the left.

This section of river is fairly easy with only some areas with Shoal (barely class 1). I have done the last 4 miles, and here the first two are lovely. This is meant to be a fun leisurely paddle.

This is a BYOB (bring your own boat) event.

Please reach out if you have questions.
