Itinerary:

Join me in celebrating the changing of the Summer heat to the coolness of Autumn on a leisurely evening hike up Stone Mountan. The temperatures are finally down to a seasonal level which makes this the perfect time of year for hiking.

Total distance for this hike is only about 2.5 miles and elevation gain is 700 feet.  Everyone can hike up at their own pace.  It should take no more than about 30 min to reach the summit, so we will have about 15 min before sunset to explore a bit and enjoy the views before the official sunset at 7:22pm. I plan on staying on the summit for a couple of hours, but everyone can descend as they see fit. I would just recommend using the buddy system since it will be dark walking back to the Park n Ride lot.  

We will meet at the Park & Ride off 4th Ave in Stone Mountain Village. Parking is free. From there it is a less than half mile walk on East Mountain Street into the Park (free for pedestrians), where we will end up right at the start of the walk-up trail.  Alternately, if you have a yearly pass and would rather park in the Stone Mountain lot, please just put a comment in the note field as you register and we will meet you at the trail head around 7pm)


Required Items to Bring:
water, headlamp or flashlight, hiking shoes or boots with excellent traction

camera, blanket to sit on, light-weight jacket since it can be quite breezy up top, as well as any snacks and/or beverages you may want to enjoy and/or share with others.
