Itinerary:

Hi, I plan to walk around the mountain first, then climb up to the summit. Up there I enjoy the view a bit, and ponder life. No hurrying here...just enjoying the fall weather from the top. Will head back down to the bottom at a leisurely pace, through the woods where available.

I intend to walk at a leisurely to moderate pace, and stop to enjoy the fall weather/views here and there, especially beside the lake. About half way around the mountain, beside the Grist Mill, there are restrooms you can use, and you'll have time to eat a snack.

We will meet near the start of the walk-up trail beside the rest rooms, adjacent to Confederate Hall. The hike will start promptly at 11:00am so plan to arrive a little earlier for introductions. There is a $20 parking fee to enter the park, unless you have an annual pass; however, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village.

Required Items to Bring:

• Comfortable shoes with a good grip-the rock can be slippery.
• 1+ liter of water or sports drink.
• Trail snacks.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Google Stone Mountain park. We'll be near the west entrance, beside the Confederate Hall.

Additional directions and maps can be found at:

If you don't want to pay the $20.00 entrance fee, you can park in Stn Mtn Village, near the caboose and walk into the park from there, but I will leave it up to you to find your way to Confederate Hall from there. The parking lot is rather small, and can definitely fill up. I also know some people who have parked in one of many parking lots outside the park, but that's up to you to find (just outside the west gate, which is relatively close to the Confederate Hall).
