Let us take a hike on the Laurel Ridge Trail

Join us for a hike on the recently reopened Laurel Ridge Trail. We have a new bridge to show for the wait! Our hike will be around 6 miles with an elevation gain of about 570 ft. This will be a moderately paced hike averaging 2.5 mph. The hike is about 90% natural trails with some paved areas. The hike should be easy to moderate with some roots and rocky spots, and, of course, some rolling hills to climb. We will be hiking through several park areas enjoying nature and the views of the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier from the river bank, lake shoreline and ridgeline. We will enjoy the woodland scenery, including a pond fed by creeks.

We will meet by the restrooms in Lower Pool Park at Buford Dam at 9:50 a.m. for introductions with a prompt start time of 10:00 a.m. 

A parking fee is required for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and is payable via Recreation.gov or your annual pass being displayed on your dash board.

The address above is for the entrance to the park. The road in the park is called Lower Pool Rd.

NOTE: Some GPS units have taken hikers to the wrong place.  Be sure you are turning onto Lower Pool Rd right at the power station. There is a kiosk at the entrance to the park.

From Peachtree Industrial Northbound:

Turn left onto Shadburn Ferry Rd. Turn left onto Buford Dam Rd and follow it to Buford Dam.  After crossing the dam, just after the power station, turn left onto Lower Pool Rd into the park. 

From Hwy 400 Northbound:

Exit right on Hwy 20. Turn left onto Sanders Rd. At the stop light, turn right onto Buford Dam Rd. Once on the dam, just before the power station, turn right onto Lower Pool Rd into the park.

Both:

Follow Lower Pool Rd to the parking lot at the very end.
