Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Try a new type of Primitive Camping - Paddle-In! The primitive campsite at High Falls State Park is 1/2 mile paddle from the boat launch at the Park Office. If you do not have a boat the park will rent one for the duration of your stay. This camping trip is part of the 12 Paddles and in 12 Months series but you do not need to attend the longer paddles (posted separately) to come camping. The campsite is located by itself. It has no electricity and no water; just a fire ring, and pit toilets. It does have its own dock for swimming.
NOTE: This is being planned as a BRING YOUR OWN MEAL event. However, folks have the option to bring cooking utensils to use/share at the camp site or enjoy meals at the local restaurants.
Itinerary:
Saturday: 2 pm - 7 pm: Arrival, you will need to check in at the Office and get a placard for your car to stay overnight. You will also need GA State Park Pass or pay for a parking pass. We will have several experienced paddlers that will "guide" newcomers by boat to the site. Remember you will need to bring or rent a boat. Set up camp and get a feel for the land! (for those participating in the 12 Paddles in 12 Months we will complete the High Falls Paddle before 2 pm).
7 pm dinner and campfire: Firewood is available for sale at the camp office. We are asking everyone to bring at least 1 bundle of wood. Also bring any musical instrument or fireside games you wish to enjoy.
Sunday: After breakfast, there will be a paddle posted for at Dames Ferry State Park and a late lunch out for those who sign up for the paddle. You can not bring rental boats out of High Falls Park. If you are not doing the Dames Ferry Paddle you can spend the day paddling at High Falls, exploring the hiking trails at High Falls or in near by Indian Springs State Park, watch the grass grow, or take a nap in a hammock.
Later, we'll have dinner and then we can relax around the fire. S'Mores will be provided.
Monday: after a light breakfast, we will pack for home. ETD: 12:00 pm
The cost to attend this event will be a $10 - 20/person, depending on how many people attend. You can choose to stay only 1 night but the cost will be the same. You can pay at the event.
