Thursday Morning Semi-Fitness Hike at Vickery Creek - GROVEWAY PARK ENTRANCE

Join me as I cover Joyce's Thursday hike this week.  I'll do my best to live up to her standards but will probably forget to take enough pictures.

The hike will be at a fast-ish pace (~3 mph) and the terrain is moderately challenging in places due to roots and rocks, so hiking poles may be useful. Because of the challenging terrain and pace this hike is not for beginners. We'll stop a couple times for water breaks, to regroup, and perhaps to look at something interesting.

We'll start and end at Groveway Community Park which has free parking and restrooms. We'll start on time so plan to arrive 10 minutes early (9:50 AM) for greetings and a stop at the restrooms.

From GA 400: Get off at Holcomb Bridge Road GA 140 and head west towards Roswell.  Take a left at the first traffic light which is Dogwood Road (there is a Krystal there).  Take a right at the first traffic light which is Grimes Bridge Road.  After crossing the bridge over Big Creek (aka Vickery Creek here) take a left at the traffic light which is Oxbo Road, then right on Dobbs Rd. Follow the road all the way down to the large athletic fields parking lot in front of the bathrooms. Don't turn too soon!  You should see the large parking lot on the right from the road before you turn in.  (If your car is the only one in the lot, you're in the wrong parking lot!)

From GA 9: Heading north in GA 9 (aka South Atlanta Street), pass GA 120 (aka Marietta Highway) then watch for Oxbo Road on the right at the traffic light. After turning onto Oxbo Road, pass the little Oxbo parking lot on the right and take a left at the first opportunity onto Dobbs Road following it to the large athletic fields parking lot in front of the bathrooms. Don't turn too soon!   You should see the large parking lot on the right from the road.  (If your car is the only one in the lot, you're in the wrong parking lot!)

Groveway Park can also be accessed by driving into the Roswell Adult Recreation Center (830 Grimes Bridge Rd, Roswell, GA 30075)  and driving through to the back of the parking lot, turning right, and then left on the road that connects to Groveway Park.
