Itinerary:

Join us on a hike from Lake Winfield Scott to Blood Mountain.

We will hike on the Jarrard Gap Trail to the AT to Blood Mountain.  We will have beautiful ridgeline views on our way to Blood Mountain. We will enjoy our snacks/lunch and then return on the Slaughter Creek Trail back to Lake Winfield Scott.

The hike will be approximately 8 miles with 1800 ft elevation gain.  This hike has some strenous climbs.  We will hike at a moderate pace of 2.6 - 2.8 mph.

You must have AOC D4 or higher experience to sign up for this hike.  If you do not have this hiking history with the club, you will be moved to the waitlist.

Required Items to Bring:

Water (2 to 3L)/hydrating drinks/electrolytes

Wear appropriate clothing with layers

Trail hiking shoes

Lunch/Snacks

If in carpool, $ for for carpool driver.  Please bring towel, change of clothes/shoes, bag for hiking shoes

$5.00 parking fee

How to Get There:

We will meet at the small parking lot on the lake.  Enter Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area, proceed to the check-in area and pay fee and then proceed down the main road to the lake.  The parking area is on the left side of the road when you reach the lake.

There is a $5.00 parking fee.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $45.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile.
