Itinerary:

Please join me as we hike from Dockery Lake Recreational Area to Woody Gap. We start on the Dockery Lake Trail and hike along Pigeon Roost Creek. We will ascend to the intersection of the Appalachian Trail, from there we head left on the AT heading Southbound. After passing Big Cedar Mountain, we will approach Preacher's Rock, after taking in the views, we will continue on the AT until we arrive at Woody Gap.  We can  vote to decide whether to take lunch at Woody Gap or wait and until after we start our return trek heading back to  Preacher's Rock. After lunch we will retrace our steps back to Dockery Lake.

The total distance is between 13-14 miles with 2,800+ feet elevation gain. Plan to hike at a moderate pace between 2.5- 3.0 mph. We will hike as a group and periodically stop including all intersections to ensure that we all stay together.

This is a moderate to challenging D5 event. Participants should have recent D5 experience with the club. If you do not have recent D5 experience then you will contacted to determine if this event is right for you.
