A 12 Miler at Sweetwater!

Come out on Saturday for a lovely and strenuous 12 mile hike at Sweetwater.

We will hike the YOBOY loop (orange and yellow) for six miles then stop for a snack and drink. We will then continue on to the other colors....white, green and red.

The trail is simply beautiful where we will walk along gorgeous views of the river and of course, admire the remnants of structures from more than 100 years ago which stand silently among the landscape.

There are quiet canopies of trees, quiet stretches of forest, some open fields and even a bit of gravel.

We get it all-a lovely hike which blends all aspects of nature as well as a bit of history and reflection.

From Atlanta:

85 South to 20 West to Lee Road (exit 41)

Left onto Lee Road for 1 mile then

Left onto Cedar Terrace Road for 0.8 miles then

Right onto Mt. Vernon Road for 0.3 miles then

Left onto Factory Shoals Road and destination will be on the right (.6 miles)

In order to earn credit for this event, participants must begin and complete the entire hike/event with the group, or within the stated time frame.

Late cancellations, particularly within 36 hours of the event, make it difficult for those on the waitlist to attend. Please be courteous to your fellow AOC members and cancel with as much notice as possible.

Members who sign up and fail to attend an event with an active waitlist, will automatically earn a “no show.”

I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE! However, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

If Life happens, and you need to cancel, please go to the AOC website and deregister by the deadline. If the site will not cooperate, TEXT me with your NAME at 4O4 7-Five-4 5OO5. FYI, thanks to those annoying robocalls, calling me will send you to my voicemail, but feel free to leave a message.

There is no cost for this event, however, Sweetwater Creek State Park charges a $10 entry fee per vehicle, payable at the Park. If you have the annual Georgia State Parks parking pass, you're in for free! If you don't, get your pass here:
