Itinerary:

Hike Plan: 

We will meet by the restrooms as you enter the Parking Lot. After introductions we will follow the trail at the end of the parking lot until it meets the loop. We will take the loop up the hill until it meets the trail again and follow the trail until it ends. We will return by the other side of the loop trail we came in on. After a quick stop by Powers Island, we will follow the sidewalk across the Chattahoochee and enter the Interstate North parking lot. On the Cochran Shoals Interstate North part of this hike, we will follow the gravel road in a counterclockwise direction stopping at the Columns Drive Parking Lot with restrooms. We will continue around the gravel road until we return to the Interstate North Parking lot. From here we will cross the Chattahoochee again and Chattahoochee again and finish at the Powers Island parking lot.

 

We will meet at 9:50 am for a restroom stop and introductions and we will start promptly at 9:30 am.


Required Items to Bring:

• Wear comfortable Clothing Layers and rugged Hiking Boots or Shoes appropriate for the weather - also, if showers are forecast bring light emergency rain gear.
• Hydrate well prior to the event and we suggest carrying about a liter of Water to drink along the way and perhaps a piece of fruit or other light snack.

Address: 5450 Interstate North Parkway, Sandy Springs, GA 30328

From I-285 W, take exit 22 for New Northside Dr toward Northside Dr/Powers Ferry Rd. Turn right onto New Northside Dr. Continue onto Interstate N Pkwy for about 1 mile and the parking entry is on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee River.

From I-285 E, take exit 22 for New Northside Dr toward Northside Dr/Powers Ferry Rd. Turn left onto New Northside Dr. Continue onto Interstate N Pkwy for about 1 mile and the parking entry is on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee River.

There is a $5.00 per day parking fee for use of the NRA.
