Itinerary:

Join the AOC for a lovely hike at Sawnee Mountain Preserve in Cumming GA. This is a very nice park: well maintained, free parking, and great facilities. We will meet at the playground area near the restrooms at 2505 Bettis-Tribble Gap Rd. DO NOT GO TO THE VISITOR CENTER OR INDIAN SEATS PARKING AREA. Please arrive in time for introductions and a description of our hike plan by 7:50 am. We will start hiking at 8:00 am. We will take the sidewalk from the parking area into the woods and traverse the mountain using the mountainside trail, the ridgeline trail, and connectors. Our path forms a figure eight. You should expect rocks, roots, and soft forest floor. No water crossings. No dogs allowed. We�re going to church this week. I�ve added the Church trail to the hike. .6 mile in and out with 200 ft of elevation. This is a good week to have sticks if you have them. The Church trail is steep in a short distance. I�ve added a half hour to account for the extra distance and elevation. Distance ~ 7 miles Elevation ~ 1200 + ft Duration ~ 3 hr
