Itinerary:

 

Join us for a morning leisurely walk around Cochran Shoals. You set your own pace for 3 mile loop.

Looking to boost your weekly walking mileage or simply enjoy a peaceful morning walk by the water? Join us at Cochran Shoals—one of the most beloved stretches of the Chattahoochee River for walking, running, biking, and dog‑friendly outings.

We will plan to meet in front of the restrooms around 6:40 am for introductions and start our urban hike at 6:45 am.

We’ll head north along the river and complete one loop of the Cochran Shoals Fitness Trail. Each loop is about 3 miles, with the Columns Drive parking area at the midpoint, giving you flexibility to set your own pace. 

Dogs are welcome (leashes required), and the vibe is relaxed, friendly, and perfect for starting your Sunday outdoors.

Important Notes

  • All natural and cultural features are federally protected.

  • Please stay on designated trails.

  • Pets must remain on a leash at all times.

  • Water levels can rise quickly—stay aware of conditions.

  • No glass containers are allowed on the river.

  • The park closes to public use at dark.

  • A $5 daily parking pass is required for vehicles in the National Park.

From I-285 W, take exit 22 for New Northside Dr toward Northside Dr/Powers Ferry Rd. Turn right onto New Northside Dr. Continue onto Interstate N Pkwy for about 0.8 mile and the parking entry is on the right.

From I-285 E, take exit 22 for New Northside Dr toward Northside Dr/Powers Ferry Rd. Turn left onto New Northside Dr. Continue onto Interstate N Pkwy for about 0.8 mile and the parking entry is on the right.
