Itinerary:

Please join me for an early morning start to hike all of the trails at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, we will begin at the Visitors Center.  With a total distance of approximately 15 miles and over 2500 ft. in elevation gain, this is a challenging event.  We are starting earlier than usual to be able to get off the trail before the summer heat/ humidity takes away the sheer joy of hiking. We will keep a moderate pace between 2.5-3.0 m.p.h. and we will hike together as a group. Please have recent D5 experience with the club or be able to show you have done comparable hikes; otherwise, you will be moved to the wait list.

We begin on the Indian Seats Trail up to the observation deck, after a quick break, we will head down and cross the street at Bettis Tribble Road.  We will hike the Hilltop Trail, Tower Trail (new), Mountainside Trail, Tower Road, Church Trail and Ridgeline Trail. Afterwards, we will take a lunch break under the covered pavillion at the playground, there are flushible bathrooms both at the Visitors Center and the Playground. After a 20 minute lunch break, we will proceed to the observation deck for a second time before heading back to the Visitors Center.

The parking is free and there is always plenty of parking avalible.
