Itinerary:

Get ready for an unforgettable day!

This is a challenge hike, with about 22 river crossings each way—makes for an awesome adventure, right?

We’ll start where Tennessee meets Georgia, hike above and around fallen trees, and splash through slippery water crossings.

Lunch will be at Jacks River Falls, then we will do it all over again to get back to the cars.

You can expect to be hiking with wet feet the entire time, with some crossings up to your knees. Sometimes, your steps might lead you into deeper areas of the river, and the water can reach your waist. If you slip on a slick rock or get startled by a snake, you might just take the plunge!

It’s important to stay hydrated. Crossing the river so many times is a lot of effort, and you can easily become dehydrated, even though you’ll be wet all day.

Per Ron’s advice: we’ll reschedule the hike if the river flow is up to 250 CF/sec. There isn't a way to monitor Jacks River, the closest one we can monitor is Conasauga River Conasauga River at GA 286, Near Eton, GA - USGS Water Data for the Nation

"Wet-Foot" Strategy Dress Code: wear highly breathable, non-waterproof trail running shoes combined with synthetic or merino wool socks, seamless underwear, and quick-drying outfit. wearing waterproof boots will only trap water inside once they inevitably flood.

This isn’t the hike you want to show up to without reading all the details and being fully prepared!
