Itinerary:

It’s time to enjoy another one of my favorite trails along the Chattahoochee River: Island Ford. While this isn’t a mountain trail, it includes a few slopes, rocky terrain, and narrow sections that make it a fun in‑town hike. The area has also added some new trails, giving us even more to explore.

This section of the trail offers beautiful views of the Chattahoochee River along with plenty of nature and wildlife. We will start at the Visitor Center parking lot and follow the main trail to the river, taking in the scenery along the way. We’ll move at a steady pace so we can finish our hike by 9:00.

I look forward to hiking with everyone on Sunday morning at 7:30 am.

Athletic or hiking shoes, snacks, and water.

$5.00 for parking or a parking pass.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

From northbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
- Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

From southbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
- Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot. $5 parking fee. Entrance Passes (U.S. National Park Service)
