Itinerary:

Join me for an in-town hike at Kennesaw Mountain!

We’ll start by hiking up and over Big and Little Kennesaw Mountains down to Burnt Hickory Road. Make sure you look for the 2-mile marker on the way so that you won't miss it later! At Burnt Hickory Road (not the 3-mile marker), we'll turn around and retrace our steps back to the Visitor's Center.

If you want, you may take a short break here.

Next, we’ll tackle the same route again. We'll go up Big and Little Kennesaw Mountains and continue until we reach the 2-mile marker. That is your cue to turn around for the last leg of this hike back to the Visitor's Center, covering a total distance of 10.2 miles.

This is a self-paced hike, so you can hike with the group or hike at your own pace. However, please note that you must complete the hike within the allotted time to receive full credit and follow the described route.

Event Details:

  • Difficulty: Low-end D5, with an elevation gain of approximately 2,500 feet.
  • Prerequisite: Several recent AOC D4 hikes of 8-10 miles are required - preferably 6-8 mile hikes at Kennesaw Mountain. If you’ve completed qualifying hikes outside the club, please email me before signing up. If you do not have recent D4 experience, you will be placed on the waitlist.

Park Pass Information:

  • Day Pass: $5, or purchase an Annual Pass at the Visitor’s Center.
  • America the Beautiful Pass is also accepted.

For more details on fees, visit the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Fee Page.

Facilities: Restrooms and water fountains are available at the Visitor Center.

Important Notes:

  • Please arrive a few minutes early for introductions or restroom use before we begin.
  • We will start the hike on time.
  • If the main parking lot is full, please use the overflow lot and allow extra time for the 10-minute walk to the Visitor Center.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
