AOC EXPERIENCE - D4 OR ABOVE

HIKE DESCRIPTION:

Please join me for a hike at Stone Mountain. We will summit twice and then go around on a modified Cherokee trail with connector trails. Moderate on the mountain and faster on the down and on the going around.

We will then take the orange connector trail counterclockwise to the green nature trail and then to the white Cherokee trail. We will follow the Cherokee trail till we reach the covered bridge. Then to the Grist Mill, past the carving, then back on the orange connector trail to the bathrooms and parking lot.

MEETING POINT:

We will meet outside the bathrooms by the start of the walk up trail.

Please arrive by 7:45 a.m. Hike will start promptly at 8:00 a.m.

PARKING:

Stone Mountain requires a parking pass, daily $20.00 or yearly $40.00.

Weather appropriate clothing

Hiking boots/shoes w/good traction

Water (2 to 3 litres)

First aid kit

Address: Stone Mountain Walk Up Trail Parking Lot, Robert E. Lee Blvd., Stone Mountain, GA

From I-285/US-78 interchange on the east side of town, take U.S. Highway 78 East about 7.7 miles. Bear right at Exit #8 to the Stone Mountain Park main entrance. After entering, follow Jefferson Davis Drive about a mile straight ahead. Bear right onto Robert E. Lee and follow it about another mile. Past the gate on your right, you will see the parking lot on your left. We will meet outside the restroom building at the base of the walk up trail.
