Itinerary:
     So let's start the day off right with a hike for the sunrise at the summit of Stone Mountain.  It will be dark so please bring a headlamp/flashlight, and anticipate on hiking up in the dark.  Also the temperature is cooler in the mornings so layering would be a good idea.  The temperature should be about 40 degrees.  It may be windy at the top so I nice wind breaker would be a great idea!  

     I have not plannied any activity after the hike so the choice is yours.  I am going to climb Mt. Yonah to watch the sunset.  Others are welcomed to hike around the mountain, hike up and down Stone Mountain again, or just go get coffee.  I think I am going to get coffee before my other hike, so anyone is welcome to join me.

     It takes about 30 minutes to get to the top.  Once there we can enjoy some morning breakfast snacks to fuel for the big day ahead of us. 

Leave Free parking in the center of Stone Mountain Village 7:00 am. 

Leave Confederate Hall 7:10 am

Sunrise 8:00 am (lazy sun gets to sleep late this day, lol)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

     Free Parking directions: To the main entrance- From I-285 take U.S. Hwy 78 East (Snellville/Athens) exit. Travel about 7 miles and take Exit 5, into Stone Mountain Village, take the very first exit to the right, when it meets to a T, turn left, stay on this road as it winds into the village, parking is located on you right in the middle of the village.

     I noticed some broken glass over in the other parking area and feel nervous about parking over there in the dark.  I have decided to start parking in the middle of the Stone Mountain Village.  Please call me if you have any questions about the new recommended parking area.
