Itinerary:

Interested in a beginner hike? This is an easy to moderate hike for those that are mildly familiar with a treadmill.

We will start early (for a Saturday) morning for a hike in the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. Plan to hike 4 to 5 miles at a moderate pace, with a stop at the old dam on Big Creek.  

Parking Fee: NCRA parks have a parking fee of $3 cash, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass ($25). The entrance to the parking area is tricky to see.  Coming north on Roswell Road, take a Right onto Riverside drive and turn IMMEDIATELY after the little bridge onto the cement driveway.  If you get to the park, you've already passed it.  

Bring your camera.

Water - even though it will be lower temperatures, you need to have enough water to stay hydrated

From Northbound U.S. 19/Ga. 400
Take exit 6 for Northridge Road 
Stay RIGHT onto Northridge Road crossing bridge 
Take first RIGHT onto Dunwoody Place, go 1.3 miles 
Turn RIGHT at Ga. 9 (Roswell Road), go 0.6 miles 
Cross river turn RIGHT onto Riverside Road.
Almost immediately, less than 0.1 mile, turn LEFT at park entrance.


From Southbound U.S. 19/Ga. 400
Take exit 7 for Ga. 140 (Holcomb Bridge Road) 
Turn RIGHT onto Ga. 140 East (Holcomb Bridge Road), go 0.2 mile 
Turn LEFT at Dogwood Road, go 1.0 miles 
Continue STRAIGHT on Riverside Road, go 1.0 mile 
Turn RIGHT at park entrance just before the bridge.
