Itinerary:

We will start the hike at the base of Brasstown Bald on GA 180, head up the Jack's Knob Trail for 2.2 miles to the parking lot (gain ~1780 feet), take the .6 mile summit trail to enjoy the views from the top (gain ~500 feet), head back down to the parking lot for .6 miles (lose ~500 feet), then head down the 5.5 mile Arkaquah Trail (lose ~2500 feet) to Track Rock Gap for lunch.

After lunch we'll head back up the 5.5 mile Arkaquah Trail (gain ~2500 feet) to the parking lot (with the option for a second visit to the summit) and back down the 2.2 mile Jack's Knob Trail back to the cars (lose ~1780 feet).

By then we should be ready for dinner.

Total mileage: Just over 16 miles
Total elevation gain: ~5500 feet
Total elevation loss: ~5500 feet

Note that on both the Arqaquah Trail and the Jack's Knob Trail, there are uphill sections (gains) even when the general direction is down.  These are not listed above but are included in the estimates of the totals.
