This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Decatur and Oakhust are two great parts of Atlanta. This hike will start at Decatur's old courthouse and wind through a few adjacent Neighborhoods. Along the way, we'll see historic homes, cabins, temples, halls, battle grounds, churches, hospitals, depots, and cemetaries of historic note. The total distance is about 6 miles and will involve a lot of street crossings and pavement pounding. The pace will be moderate and we should complete the loop in a bout 2.5 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

We'll meet on the steps of the old courthouse overlooking Ponce De Leon Ave. Parking in downtown Decatur can be a challenge if you don't want to feed the meters. Please arrive early and allow time if you plan to hunt for parking. See the following link for free parking after

From Downtown -  Take Ponce De Leon west until you reach Clairmont Ave in downtown Decatur. From East I285 - Take exit 40 East Ponce De Leon Ave and head east until you reach Clairemont Ave in downtown Decatur.
