Itinerary:

Come join me for a SWIM and hike.  Yes, I put swim first because honestly that is the main reason for this hike!

This hike is fairly easy with some elevation.  We will be hiking in about 1.75 miles and back out the same distance. 

There are many cool places to stop on our way to the swimming hole.  The first big stop will be at Rainbow Falls.  There is a small path that leads down to the bottom of the 125' falls. Here we will stop for pictures and a bit of swimming for anyone that would like a dip. 

Afterwards we will hike to Drift falls.  We will pass Turtleback falls along the way (this will be our final destination and lunch spot), however before we stop we will hike past to see Drift Falls.  This used to be a prime slide area years ago, but now the owner of the property does not allow swimming or sliding due to an injury that occured.  After taking pictures, we will hike back to Turtleback falls for our lunch and swim for the majority of the day.

How to Get There:

From the Indian Trail Marta park and ride lot, we follow I-85 north all the way to exit 1 in South Carolina, stopping at exit 1 to take restroom break.  From here we will go HWY 11 north off of same exit almost 33 miles and turn left on Whitewater Falls Rd.  Once we cross the NC State Line, we will travel approximately 7 miles to Gorges State Park entrance on the right.  After you enter the park, you will drive approximately 1.5 miles to the parking area where we will start our adventure!
