Itinerary:

Love Cochran Shoals. Hate getting there in the evenings. Love doing it in the afternoon.

This will be a D3 faster paced hike. This is not a beginner hike. We will be moving quickly with limited stops. We'll cover about 5 miles. We will cross a small stream where you'll have to negotiate across six or seven strategically placed rocks. Or you can just walk across if your shoes are waterproof - the water is no more than ankle deep.
 

You're welcome to bring your dog but please follow the rules. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails. Please cooperate with the posted rules. Dogs MUST be on leash at all times for this event

 

We will start on time, so please arrive 5-10 minutes early to check in.  Restrooms are available at this trailhead.

Bring $3 to park unless you have a parking pass.


Required Items to Bring:

water, gatorade or whatever you like to keep hydrated (important)
No flip flops or shoes without a backstrap please
snacks to fuel yourself
hiking poles if you dig 'em
sunscreen/bug spray according to the season and weather
appropriate clothing
epi pen/inhaler if you need one

 2080 W. Interstate Hwy N Pkwy., Marietta, GA, 30339

The parking lot entrance is between Powers Ferry Road and Northside Drive, along Interstate North - - with I-285 paralleling Interstate North within eyeshot of the parking lot.

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go to second traffic light and go left onto New Northside Drive.
  • Use “through” lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
  • Unit will be immediately on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee.

From westbound Interstate  285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
  • Right on New Northside Drive.
  • Use “through” lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
  • Unit will be immediately on the right after crossing the Chattahoochee.

If you're on Powers Ferry Road heading south, turn LEFT just before going under 285.  The lot will be on your
 left before you cross the river.

There's a bathroom facility at this parking lot.
