Itinerary:

Scenic hike through one section of the Appalachian Trail with views along Big Cedar Mountain (there is a small side trail to the best view) and then Blood Mountain.

We'll begin at Woody Gap and head northeast for 10.6 miles to Blood Mountain and finishing towards Neels Gap (We'll actually take the Byron Reece trail back down to the parking lot).  The pace will be moderate but we WILL take rest breaks to see the views and to make sure to regroup.

This hike is intended to be a true D4.

After the hike we'll head back down to Dahlonega for possible dinner/late lunch at Pueblo's.

There will be a shuttle that we will have to set up from Neels Gap back to Woody Gap and I will coordinate that with drivers prior to the event.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Take GA 400 North to its end (Home Depot, Waffle House).  

At Traffic Light take the left on US 19 towards Dahlonega.  

Take the US 19 Bypass right at the bottom of the hill coming into Dahlonega.

Continue on US 19 until you reach GA60 and take a left (towards Suches).

After about 2 miles you will see parking along the road at Woody Gap.

One car will need to be taken to Neels Gap, so we will possibly need to do that first, according to who is meeting us at the event (this will be figured out BEFORE we leave the carpool - most likely the day before)

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $54.80 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
