Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join us to explore the trails of Fort Mountain State Park. We will go on the 7.2 mile loop of the Gahuti Backcountry Trail, and the 1.1 mile loop of the Lake Loop Trail with access through the Big Rock Nature Trail (0.7 mile). Along the way we will see rocky bluffs, cascading creeks, views of the Cohutta Mountains, and a diversity of trees, ferns, and wildflowers. For additional views, we can explore the Cool Springs Overlook Trail (2.0 miles) before we head back home.

Pace: If you like to hike fast, we can split the group and Jasmine will lead the fast hiker group. Fast hikers can add a side trip on the Old Fort Loop and Stone Walls Trails for an additional 1.5 mile loop.

Dogs must be on leash at all times and not interfere with other hikers or dogs.

Note:  The trip leader may contact you to determine your fitness level. The trip leader reserves the right to remove anyone from the list who they feel cannot handle this trip.
