Itinerary:

Cloudland Canyon has some of the most beautiful and scenic views of any of the state parks.

From the main visitors parking lot we will take the Overlook Trail and get our "group" picture!  Then we will descend into the gorge for some spectacular views of the Hemlock and Cherokee Falls.

Most of this part of the trail consists of gravel and steps,  numbering over 1200 steps in all!   And yes, we go both up and down these steps!!

After the climb up, we will take the 5 mile West Rim Loop Trail where we will be treated to stunning views of the neighboring mountains.

This a bring your lunch hike and in turn make sure you bring enough liquids since we will be on the trail from 9:30 am to 2:30 - 3ish and get back to the Busbee Park and Ride between 4:00 and 4:30.  Please remember this is an exploratory hike as neither of us has led this trip so the hiking timing of the event are estimations!

As this is a D4 hike,  the trip leaders may contact you to assess your level of ability and comfort.

Definition of a D4: Moderate to Difficult More challenging elevation gain of 1,500 to 2,500 feet, and/or faster pace: generally 8-10 miles.
