Itinerary:

Join us for a combination of hiking and swimming. We will start at the Lake Winfield Scotte parking lot and get on the trail to Jarrard Gap. From there, we will hike on the Applachian Trail to Blood Mountain, where we take break and have lunch, We then continue on the Slaughter Creek trail to Lake Winfield Scott where we take some time to swim, and have fun.

Lake Winfield Scott was completed in 1942 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.  The lake and all of it’s buildings, roads and structures are the work of the Corps and remains intact today.

Overall, the hike will be around 8 miles with some strenuous climbing at a moderate pace.  Approximate elevation gain for this hike is 2,000 ft.

We will stop at all of the major turns/crossroads to keep the group together and take necessary water breaks.

We expect approximately 4.5 - 5.hours of hiking.

Optional: If there is enough interest, we can stop at the Thai Restaurant (on GA 400 accross from the Outlet Mall) for dinner. Everybody should discuss their dinner plans in the morning in order to plan the carpool accordingly.

Please Note: There is $5.00 pafking Fee at Lake WinField
