Tour de Farm is an amazing weekend of bicycles, farms, great people and delicious food.

We are forming a team of 12 AOC members to participate in this event.

Community Farmers Markets 2015 Tour de Farm will ride ~40 miles, taking breaks at four idyllic stops (with lunch included) on the first day before dinner and camping out together that evening. The next morning we'll wake up to breakfast and ride 11 miles back to where we began.

Tour de Farm is a fully supported ride. All gear will be transported to the Mayflor Farm in Stockbridge, GA, where we will spend the night.  Bicycle techs will be on hand and support riders with us the whole way.

Tour de Farm starts and ends at Decimal Place Farm in Conley, GA.  Team AOC will meet at the start.  Mary Rigdon, resident farmer, has been on the historic 40 acres of farmland in Conley since October 1995 where she raises American Saanen goats and produces cheeses.  We'll get to tour the farm and learn about it's history and on-going operations.

From there, the tour heads east and meets up with the PATH (https://pathfoundation.org/) on the South River Trail and heads toward the Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve for a foraging walk around the 2,600 acre preserve in Dekalb County.  This will likely include spotting late muscadines and/or early native persimmons. Here we will eat lunch with local goodies prepared by the good people from the Candler Park Market deli.

After that, it's further east to the farm of Grant Wallace.  Grant is an up and coming young farmer raising vegetables, chickens and pigs. Our last stop of the day will be south in Stockbridge at Mayflor Farm.  Chris Edwards, resident farmer, is another up and coming young farmer that manages Mayflor Farm primarily raising vegetables alongside some bees, cows, chickens and fruit trees.

The tour will stay at Mayflor for dinner provided by the the Wrecking Bar. On the menu will be smoked chicken & pork with plenty of vegetarian friendly sides (baked beans, salad, roasted veggies, cornbread) AND pie for dessert with plenty of hefeweizen to go round.  After a night of camping and festivities, we'll wake up to breakfast prepared by Atlanta area Chef Philip Meeker before we ride back to Decimal Place.

Each of these farms has their own interesting stories and methods and this event provides access to them all.
