Itinerary:

A great way to spend an evening hiking the Cherokee Trail and then climb to the summit of Stone Mountain.  The pace is FAST!!! (3.5-4 miles an hour with rest stops - slightly slower on the way to the top)  We will be going around and up and down the Mountain in 2 hours 30 minutes.  If you are familiar with Stone Mountain and it's surrounding trails, this hike takes us around the base at a very quick clip and then we ascend to the top.  It is NOT a scenic hike.

First - those who are FAST - bring a pack to slow your pace and strengthen your core and leg muscles.

Second - those who are SLOWER - There will be rest breaks, but be ready to push through each section to continue to build your strength and stamina!

IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE A D4 WITH THE CLUB, I WILL BE CONTACTING YOU TO CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TYPE OF HIKE.  I do reserve the right to remove anyone from the hike who has NOT done a D4 or has the level of experience to complete the hike.

We will meet near the start of the walk- up trail behind the large parking lot beside Confederate Hall. The hike will start promptly at 6:00 pm so plan accordingly since Atlanta traffic can be erratic in the afternoon/evenings.

There is an $15 parking fee to enter the park; however, free public parking is available in Stone Mountain Village. See directions below.

We'll take a few minutes to enjoy the Fall air and then return to the parking lot.

Required Items to Bring:

• Comfortable shoes with a good grip-the rock can be slippery.
• 1 liter of water, sports drink or beverage of choice.
• Trail snacks.

FLASHLIGHT/HEADLAMP

* A Snickers bar for the leader (preferably frozen or at least refridgerated to ensure it makes it all the way through the hike and can be enjoyed at the top by the leader!)

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

• Poncho or rain jacket in case of rain
