Itinerary:

Many folks have asked for yet another repeat of this event so that they can see the Beltline Art Exhibits  before they're removed `` so I'm posting the hike once more. But we're going to add a little twist!  We'll start behind the Publix on Monroe and walk along the Beltline to the Ponce City Market, where we'll detour through the Market (and eat lunch) and then walk through the Historic Fourth Ward Park - - a beautifully restored area that serves as a reservoir for flood waters as well as a sustainable park for the area.  We'll rejoin the Beltline at the Skate Park and then backtrack to Monroe Street, where we'll veer into Piedmont Park to see the Educational Garden and the dog park.  From there, we'll rejoin the Beltline to make our way back to our cars.

Dozens of visual works of art from local to international artists have transformed the Atlanta BeltLine into a linear gallery space. In addition to the more than 30 permanent Beltline exhibits we've enjoyed, over 60 new, dynamic art installations have been erected along the railroad corridor.  These new installations are temporary and will be on display only through November; so grab this chance to see the spectacular displays on a leisurely walk with fellow AOC members.

The Beltline hike is flat, so elevation change will not be a problem.  However, consider the length of the trek (almost 8 miles) when deciding to register for this event.  We'll be walking at a very comfortable pace and stopping frequently to appreciate all the exhibits we pass. Distance will be the only challenge for people who are new to hiking.

Bring your camera or plan to use your cell phone for the many photo opportunities you'll have.
