Itinerary:

We will go at a steady, moderate pace, with some stops. This is an in and out hike with a total distance of  approximately 11 to 12 miles and vertical rise of about 2,000 feet, We will be hiking west on the Appalachian Trail from Tesnatee Gap to Neels Gap. The hike includes several climbs and descents with a scenic view of Towns Creek Valley and the Georgia piedmont from the top of Cowrock Mountain.  There is a hiker hostel and store at Neels Gap with an overlook to the south which will be our lunch spot.  Then we will head back the way we came to the cars.  The forecast is for clear skies which will add to the visibility from the overlooks.
