Itinerary:

We will meet at the Park Office (formerly the lodge and restaurant).  We will complete the Homestead Trail.

We will be hiking at a moderate pace.

Bring a snack, because after the finish of the hike, we will head over to the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville where we will attend the Ansel Adams exhibit (FREE from 6 to 8pm on the first Thursday of the month).  Booth Western Art Museum is located at 501 Museum Drive, Cartersville, GA 30120

Because we are going to the museum after the hike - you will need to have a snack.  Stay as long as you want at the museum and avoid the evening traffic!

 


Required Items to Bring:

Water, hiking boots or shoes appropriate for hiking.  

Change of foot gear for the museum.

When parking be prepared to pay $5.00 cash per vehicle or display a current GA State Parks annual parking pass.

DIRECTIONS from ATLANTA:

- Take I- 75 North and get off at Exit 285, "Red Top Mtn Rd." (This exit is about 25 miles north of the I-75/ I-285 interchange in NW Atlanta).
- Turn Right onto Red Top Mtn Rd and go about 2 miles to the Red Top Mountain State Park Visitor Center & store on your left.  (En route you'll cross an old bridge over a portion of Lake Allatoona.)
- We'll gather on the front porch of the Visitor Center after parking in the adjoining lot.  (Drivers make sure you've paid the daily parking fee in a self-service envelope or displayed your annual GA-DNR parking pass.)
