Itinerary:
Please join us Sunday at Kennesaw Mountain for a dayhike that will include a mix of terrain and also a visit to its historic summit.

We will start at the BACK OF THE OVERFLOW LOT on Old 41, so we'll get about a half mile in before the visitor's center (a quick bathroom break is avaiable here if needed) then we'll go along the side of the mountain for another half mile (to get warmed up) before looping back up and over the mountain and down to Burnt Hickory.  We'll cross Burnt Hickory, continue across Whitlock/Dallas Hwy, and pass the Illinois monument.  From there we'll continue to the farthest west end of KM property along Powder Springs Rd.  We'll stop for lunch at the Subway/Kroger on Powder Springs Rd.  After a good break and refueling we'll continue around the Kolb Farm trail past the Cheatham Hill parking lot, back across Whitlock/Dallas Hwy, taking the East Trail across Burnt Hickory, down the Brumby trail to the visitor's center and back to our cars.

This is NOT A BEGINNER HIKE.

The trip leaders will stay together on this hike at a MODERATE pace (3 MPH).  If you are unfamiliar with the course or hiking this distance - this might not be for you.

At 8:45am, Meet at the BACK OF THE OVERFLOW parking lot on Old 41 (about a half mile from the Visitor's Center)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

2) If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way.  You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.

3) You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it.  Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.

4) After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.

5) You should cross railroad tracks soon.

6) Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight.  If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.

7) Stay on Old US 41 until you pass in front of the mountain, through the light and take the next LEFT and park in the overflow parking (about 300 yards past the light in front of the visitor's center).
