Itinerary:

The stunning Emery Creek Trail sits on the edge of the Cohutta Wilderness area within the WMA. We will take the seldom used Emery Creek Trail and see up to 5 different waterfalls (depending on water levels) along this trail.

We will start the hike at the parking lot as it gradually climbs up and along Emery Creek to the falls at the end, once we have rested and had lunch we will climb up and along a ridgeline off trail for approximately 1.5 miles to some hidden ruins.  After spending some time at the ruins we will hike about another 1.5 miles off-trail along a different ridge until we hit the trail again. We'll then follow the trail back to the trailhead.

This hike has  MANY  river crossings, please make sure you are comfortable with this and bring a change of socks in case your shoes/boots get wet. River shoes for the crossings are highly recommended. This hike has 3+ miles of off-trail hiking making it a challenging D4.

As a bonus at the end of the hike we will drive a couple of miles and hike down a short steep hill to see Holly Creek Falls.

We plan to eat dinner on the way back if the group desires.
