Itinerary:

Please join us  as we discover the beauty of Blood Mountain. This is a classic loop hike to the highest point (4,458 feet) on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia.

We will meet in the parking lot of Lake Winfield Scott, and start the hike promptly at 10:30 am. There is a $5 parking fee. Restrooms are available at the Park. We should be back at the Mansell Park n Ride at 5 pm.

Leaving from the Lake Winfield Scott parking lot, we will hike up the West face of Blood Mountain along the Slaughter Creek trail.

We will hike at a moderate pace and will go about 1500 feet in elevation so anticipate some strenuous hills. You must be in reasonably good shape to cover the elevation and distance.

After 3.5 miles, we will reach the top of Blood Mountain. We will spend about 45 minutes at the summit enjoying lunch and the views.

We will head back to Lake Winfield Scott completing our loop on the beautiful Jarrard Gap trail, which is lined with rhododendrons and mountain laurel.
